We're really proud of you and hope for the very best, but we will miss you very much. Many of you have been a part of our congregation for years and have become dear friends to me and many of us here. We'll miss having you here as part of us, though we do take solace that, increasingly, the ministry and communal sense of DaySpring is extending beyond Waco. You'll soon be a part of that, the DaySpring Diaspora, and as such, we want you to know that you can call on us for anything and we hope you will. One of the ways we think we can do church is to help inspire and encourage DaySpring like churches in other places. There's no place quite like Waco (we all know that for sure), but DaySpringers in other cities and states have found kindred souls in existing congregations and in some cases are helping plant new churches. If you find yourself part of something like that, give us a call . . .we want to help. Grace and peace and our prayers go with you. A few notes on the life of the church: New Piano: thanks to the foresight and wisdom of the church to set aside funds for future capital expenditures, and thanks to the generosity of a few folks, and thanks to the quick thinking and acting of a few musicians, we were able to acquire a beautiful piano for the chapel last week and were able to send the old one to a loving home. The chapel is open all the time for prayers and meditation. If you play piano as prayer, you'll enjoy this I think . . . Worship: the next three Sundays will be especially meaningful. We'll have baptisms on May 19th and June 2nd and all church breakfast and communion on May 26th. Then we start to turn the corner into VBS week and the Youth Retreat in Colorado. Peace be with you. Undergraduate Ministry: Every October there is a changing of the chart guard as DaySpringers pass the torches of their chart positions to new people and then assume leadership of new positions. However, a few ministries can't wait for this ceremonious change over and require new leadership starting in August as the formation classes and Life Together Groups get going. The Undergraduate Ministry Team is one such ministry and is looking for one or two people to plan Undergraduate Life Together Group fellowships (i.e. coffees, lunches, go-karting, kayaking, etc.) this fall and spring. If you are interested in serving on the Undergraduate Ministry Team in this way for the 2013-2014 chart year, please contact Amos Barker. 30-Somethings' Fellowship: The 30-Somethings will meet for brunch 9:30--11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, at the downtown Farmer's Market at 400 South University Parks Drive. Look for the fire tower. The market is next door at the old RV park). The market has food to buy, music, picnic tables and plenty of space for playing. You may want to bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a frisbee. We will set up in the grassy area near the river. If you have questions, or need further information, please contact Ivy Hamerly. Sunday, May 26th, is our All Church Breakfast. Please bring your favorite breakfast dish or items to share (egg casseroles, pigs in a blanket, muffins, etc.) DaySpring will provide juice and coffee. We will begin serving breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and can't serve breakfast without you or your favorite dish, so we look forward to seeing you at 9:30 sharp! Graduating? We want to know! Stewardship Help Needed: There is a need for an additional person to help the cleaning teams, someone who can fill in when a team member is not able to clean. Spiritual Formation Sunday morning classes at 9:45 a.m. The Bible study class, facilitated by Tim and Denise Martindale, meets in the sanctuary and is studying the Book of Acts. The Christian Studies class, facilitated by Bob Kruschwitz and Ralph Wood, meets in the chapel. They have been studying C. S. Lewis' sermons. On Sunday mornings beginning June 2, DaySpring's very own Kevin Moore will facilitate an 8-week adult formation class using his book, Can Any Good Come from Nazareth?, as a guide. The class will study a different gospel story each week and reflect on how the story inspires and/or challenges our response to Jesus' call, "Follow me." The class will be informative and interactive, and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. The class will meet in the Chapel. September 27-29 --- DaySpring Women's Retreat, Cedar Brake Retreat Center, Belton. DaySpring Children Vacation Bible School---donations needed: Sheets, old and new; anything Roman; outdoor canopies; wooden and metal buckets; all size baskets (not plastic). Youth Gathering: The youth will meet tonight from 6:00-7:15 for the final Youth Gathering of the spring semester. The Youth Summer Kick-Off will be on June 12. Parents Meeting: On June 2 immediately following the worship service there will be a meeting in the Chapel for parents of 6th-12th grade students. Please plan to attend.
