Border Trip in July
This past weekend a group of Dayspring members traveled to Brownsville and Matamoros to meet with Fellowship Southwest partners and witness life for those seeking asylum at the U.S. border. After visiting with ministries in Texas and Mexico, we returned with the information that was shared at Dayspring’s Quarterly meeting on July 31st, and again in worship on August 6th at Dayspring. These experiences connect us to the chain of ministries that exist along the migrants' route and remind us that God’s work is always much larger than we can do alone.
Conversational Spanish Class and Trauma Informed Care Training
Our next Spanish class is on August 3rd at 5:30 pm, but it will be followed by dinner and a Trauma Informed Care training by Baylor’s School of Social Work. This training will run from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Following our visit to Matamoros and Brownsville, this training seems uniquely relevant and important for the work ahead of Dayspring. Naomi House Commissioning and House Blessing
Finally, Naomi House will receive a commission and a blessing in the next few weeks, before we begin to accept residents in the home. We hope that you will join us on the 23rd at 5:30 pm at Naomi House to bless the home. There will also be a commissioning of the hosts during worship on the 21st. We believe these two events are essential to the life of the home, as God’s call to receive those in need is the heart of this ministry.
