Seniors & Hunger: Meals on Wheels
Advent:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
The Need:
Right now, there are seniors in our community waiting for the meal that might be their only one today. In the U.S. almost 10% of the older adult population is food insecure but in the great Waco community that number is 17.5% according to Feeding America.
Our Partner in Ministry:
Meals on Wheels Waco (MOW) nourishes the bodies, minds, and spirits of older adults in the Heart of Texas through meals, activities, transportation, and volunteer support. MOW provides support services for the older adults in the City of Waco as well as Falls, Hill and McLennan Counties. MOW volunteers and staff deliver meals for over 850 homebound elderly, provide lunches for 12 Senior Centers, and operate a transit program in McLennan County.
How we can help:
Step Up for Seniors is Meals on Wheels Waco’s urgent call to action. Too many of our elderly neighbors are on waitlists because there simply isn’t enough funding to reach them all. That’s not acceptable—not here, not now, not on our watch.
This campaign is about more than meals. It’s about ending hunger and isolation, one door at a time. Every dollar you give helps us deliver food, compassion, connection, and hope.
